Split ends are year-long problems. During summers, the weather is too
hot and cause split ends and during winters, the dryness causes split
ends. The weather aside, several lifestyle choices contribute to split
ends – hair styling products, dust, heat & pollution. Lack of
certain essential nutrients like Vitamin E and other minerals also
contribute to split ends. While it might not be a terrible problem,
splits ends are an indication of exceptionally dry hair.
Since there are not many solutions to split ends it is always
suggested that one should follow a good hair-care regimen to avoid them.
However, we have compiled 5 near-perfect solutions to get rid of split
ends.
-
Prepare a Papaya Hair Pack
Choose a ripe papaya and peel its skin. Cut into half, remove all the
seeds and blend the flesh of the fruit with yogurt thoroughly. You can
optionally also add few drops of vitamin E or coconut oil. Apply the
mask all over your hair with special concentration on the tips.
Use a polythene bag or a shower cap
to cover your hair, and let it dry for half an hour. Then wash the now
dry mask with a very mild shampoo and a light conditioner if necessary.
Do not blow your hair dry. Use towel or let it dry naturally in the sun.
When done at least once a week, this helps get rid of the split ends.
-
Break an Egg
Eggs are rich in protein and antioxidants. The proteins &
minerals in eggs provide necessary nourishment to the hair. Magnesium in
the egg strengthens the hair from the roots to the tip and the fatty
acids cover the hair. So, eggs are an all-round hair-care agent! This
naturally implies that egg packs are very effective when it comes to
getting rid of split ends.
Break an egg yolk into a bowl and add a table spoon of olive oil
& honey. Apply this mask carefully using the brush along the length
and ends of the hair. Allow the mask to settle on your hair for about 60
minutes. Wash away the hair pack with warm water and then shampoo and
condition. This hair mask can be applied twice a week for effective
results.
-
Give yourself the Oil Treatment
Oil is great to rid the hair of split ends. Take a table spoon of
coconut oil, castor oil, almond oil and coconut oil. Heat the oil
mixture to a warm temperature. To get the desired temperature, warm the
oil in a small bowl placed in a very hot bigger bowl of hot water. You
can also add few herbs (like Basil or Tulsi) in the warming oil. Apart
from acting as anti bacterial and antifungal agents, herbs give a very
soothing and fresh essence to the oils mixture.
Now, apply this hot oil mixture to your hair from root to tip. For
effective application, separate the hair on your head into four sections
– two up and two down – and then apply to each section. Once hair is
covered massage the oil into the scalp to restore the hair moisturizer
and nourish the scalp. Also, apply oil along the length of the hair and
cover the tips too. Use a warm towel to wrap your hair and leave it on
for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, shampoo your hair. To remove the oil
effectively, you can mix baking soda with your shampoo. Ensure that you
do not use too much shampoo since the oil might give you the feeling
that it has not been rinsed off, while it really has gone away.
-
Make a hair oil mixture with Fenugreek Seeds
Soak fenugreek (methi) seeds in water overnight. Grind it coarsely
and pour the grounded powder into a bottle and pour coconut oil into it.
Keep the bottle out under sunlight. Wet your hair with lukewarm water
and carefully apply the oil from the roots to the. Ensure you apply the
oil on your scalp too since fenugreek seeds contain necessary nutrients
required to regulate hair growth and its anti bacterial properties keep
dry scalp, dandruff and other bacterial and fungal problem away. Apply
the oil and leave it for two hours and then rinse with a mild shampoo.
Keep filling in the bottle with more coconut oil as and when you use
some. This one is totally worth the effort and positive results show up
in a month’s time.
-
Milk your hair
Milk comes to a hairy rescue
Drinking milk is good for health and applying some to your hair
directly also helps nourish it. Pour some milk into the spray bottle and
spray the milk all over your hair or smear the milk on your hair before
head bath and wash after 30 minutes of application. Milk is natural
moisturizer and leaves the scalp cool and hair shiny. Milk serves as an
excellent conditioner and you do NOT need any conditioner after
shampooing since the milk is enough!
